There is always a more, and less, efficient way of executing a physical movement - be it a golf swing, a tennis serve or a length of front crawl. And running is no exception. While you can ‘get by’ simply by putting one foot in front of the other, to run well - using your body the way it was designed to move - takes skill, awareness, practice and patience. But the rewards are worth the effort - running well helps you improve performance, minimise the risk of injuries and gain grace and fluidity.
I am running my next Running Well workshop on Sunday February 24th. This is a small group (12 max) workshop which includes video analysis of your running technique and practical sessions on what you need to improve and how to do it. You’ll go home with a greater knowledge of how you run, and what the ‘blueprint’ of running looks like. (And just for the record, in my view the blueprint is how you would run if you were barefoot, though it doesn’t necessitate you actually being barefoot.) You’ll also go home with a toolbox of drills, strength exercises and stretches to help you work on your running form beyond the workshop.
But running well isn’t just about technique - it’s also about how you put your training programme together - the structure and content. So in the afternoon, we’ll focus on determining what you need to do, training-wise - to reach your specific goals, and how to map out your own schedule.
The workshop will take place at Eastbourne Sports Park in East Sussex – a purpose-built sports venue equipped with an athletics track and seminar room, shower and changing facilities and surrounded by green space. There is free parking on-site, and the venue is within easy walking distance of Hampden Park railway station or a short taxi ride from Eastbourne railway station.
There are two running sessions during the workshop - one on the athletics track and one on paths and grass in the surrounding parkland. You do NOT need to be a fast, or experienced, runner to attend this course. Everyone works at their own pace within the sessions and no one ever gets left behind.
There’s more information about the workshop on the Coaching page - or email me [email protected] if you would like me to send you the flyer or a booking form.
The cost of the day workshop is £75 and it runs from 10am to 4.30pm.
